Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church

To All Parishioners,

The Second Vatican Council"defined marriage as a community of life and love, placing love at the center of the family... 'True love between husband and wife' involves mutual self-giving, includes and integrates the sexual and affective dimensions, in accordance with God's plan".

Pope Francis says that "The sacrament of marriage is not a social convention, an empty ritual or merely the outward sign of a commitment. The sacrament is a gift given for the sanctification and salvation of the spouses, since "their mutual belonging is a real representation, through the sacramental sign, of the same relationship between Christ and the Church. The married couple are therefore a permanent reminder for the Church of what took place on the cross; they are for one another and for  their children witnesses of  the salvation in which they share through the sacrament". Marriage is a vocation, in as much as it is a response to a specific call to experience conjugal love as an imperfect sign of the love between Christ and the Church. Consequently, the decision to marry and to have a family ought to be the fruit of a process of vocational discernment."

The Sacrament of Marriage is very important for both the couple which intends getting married and for the Church that wants to assure the legality and validation of the sacrament. For these reasons  in Our  Lady  of Guadalupe we  want  to help  you  out  in  the  best  way  possible  to accomplish this.

In order to begin with a process for marriage we need to know you personally and have a conversation with both of you about your readiness to access to the Sacrament. Please, call us to make an appointment and talk with one of the priests. During this interview, we will let you know the new process in the Diocese and the required documents.

We do not have marriage classes anymore because the new courses that the Diocese requires are different since May 1, 2016. The frame time for the process is from 6 to 9 months, so please be available to come to the interview before contracting a hall or another place for the reception. Dates may change during the process.

May God bless your families and let us pray for those couples who are in the way to married during the following months.

Fraternally,

Fr Lucas Alejandro Olivera OFMCap
